The Evrika Foundation was established in 1990 by state and public organisations with the aim of supporting gifted children and young people in carrying out projects in science, technology and management; backing young innovators and entrepreneurs; spreading scientific, technical and economic knowledge; improving the material base for scientific and technical creativity; and supporting training, specialisation and international cooperation in science and technology.

The Foundation's funding comes from income on its assets, donations, and income tied to its programmes.

Over its 35-year history, the Evrika Foundation has awarded scholarships or supplements to 3,025 students and pupils, helped 2,124 young people participate in international scientific forums and specialise at prestigious research centres and companies, and organised and run 1,378 events — competitions, championships, conferences and schools for children, pupils, students, young scientists and specialists.

In 2025 the Foundation maintained its broad portfolio of activities: grant funding, scholarships, support for young innovators and entrepreneurs, consulting, information services, publishing, support for scientific and technical events, and projects in partnership with other Bulgarian and international organisations.

„Evrika“ activities and initiatives in 2025

In the past year alone the Evrika Foundation has:

  • paid scholarships to 50 students and pupils who won, through competition, named scholarships, scholarships from targeted donations, and scholarships for medallists from the international olympiads in mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry and biology;
  • supported the running of 52 major scientific and technical events for children and young people at home and abroad, plus another 12 editorial, educational and scientific-information projects;
  • provided free consultations to young people under 35 through specialised offices in commercial and contract law, the legal status and relations of non-governmental organisations, intellectual-property protection, and information technology;
  • organised, on its own and together with partners, educational, scientific and innovation projects for young people, among them:
  • National science and technology events for age groups grades V–VII and VIII–XII, together with the National Palace of Children;
  • National competition „Space — the present and future of humankind“;
  • Pupils' Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, together with the „Sts. Cyril and Methodius“ International Foundation, the Union of Mathematicians in Bulgaria, the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at BAS, and the America for Bulgaria Foundation;
  • National competitions in aircraft, car, ship and rocket modelling for pupils, together with the National Palace of Children;
  • National competition „Nature — our home“ for pupils, together with the National Palace of Children;
  • Joint project with the Municipal Centre for Extracurricular Activities of Dolna Mitropolia Municipality to hold „Astro Party Baykal’2025“;
  • National competition for pupils' projects in ecology and environmental protection „Srebarna“, together with the National Palace of Children;

History

The Evrika Foundation was established in 1990 by state and public organisations with a clear purpose — to support talented Bulgarian children and young people in science, technology, engineering, economics, and management. In 2025, the Foundation marked 35 years of consistent and sustainable work with a jubilee scientific conference.
